The Magic Flight Launch Box (MFLB) portable vaporizer is a good, reasonably priced vape and will get you some good drags. There are a few issues with it, but in many cases those issues can be fixed with some simple work, so really it’s a matter of getting used to the quirks of the vaporizer in order to get the most out of it.
Loading the Magic Flight Launch Box portable vaporizer is fairly easy, but there are some very specific things that you have to keep in mind.
The first is that this vape requires a very, very fine grind in order to work properly. Even the grinder that comes with it really isn’t quite fine enough to be as effective as it could be, so best to get the finest grinder you can find.
Actually packing your herb into the trench is pretty easy, but you have to be careful not to pack it too densely. If anything, just pour your herb into the trench and close the top. The reason for this, other than that it too easily blocks the vapor if you pack too tightly, is that you really want to be able to shake your herbs around between drags, otherwise the stuff on the bottom will start to burn and you won’t get an even bake.
Using it is pretty simple.
It’s a small unit and can easily fit in a pocket with the stem and battery.
Just insert the battery and press it into the unit in order to activate it, taking small, quick hits off the stem until it really starts to heat up. After a while, you’ll get used to the kind of pulls you need to take to maintain a consistent temperature.
I should mention at this point that holding the battery in that much is kind of annoying. There is a rubber gasket inside the battery port to keep it from making constant contact.
You can easily remove this with a pair of needle-nose pliers, but keep in mind that if you do, you have to be careful to break the connection or the battery will overheat.
Charging the two batteries is a breeze. The included charger is easy to use and charges pretty quickly.
The Launch Box has only one heat setting, and while it doesn’t have as many options as the higher end portable vaporizers, however, it’s what makes this model unique – just remember to shake between drags because this is very important in order for it to work properly and give you a good vape.
A single battery can give you anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes of continuous vapor production which isn’t bad. This comes out to about 4-8 draws of vapor depending on how long of a drag you take of course.
The Magic Flight Launch Box portable vaporizer comes with basically everything you’ll need to get started, including the box itself, two pre-charged batteries, a charger, a cleaning brush, and a draw stem. For the price, this is more than enough.
Here’s a full list:
- The MFLB of course
- 2 Rechargeable NiMH Glyph Batteries With Caps
- Battery Charger
- Felt-lined Decorative Tin
- Glass Draw Stem
- Cleaning Brush
- User Manual
Care can be a bit of a pain, since not only do you have to clean it, you do have to shake it during use to prevent herbs from frying to the screen. The included brush is pretty good at keeping all the parts in good working order, but preventative maintenance is a necessity.
This is not a really a high end vaporizer, but that really doesn’t matter because for the price, it can’t be beat.
Just expect that it will require a little bit of work on your part in order to make it operate at full efficiency. A few tips are don’t pack tight, use finely ground herbs, and shake between drags and you should be all set.
